Bursaries

The BP&DE Secondary SCITT offers training in secondary shortage subjects of Mathematics, Science, Modern Foreign Languages and Design Technology. The Government announced on 9th November 2011 the bursary arrangement for 2012 entry. For September 2012,  trainees in some subjects will receive a training bursary which is differentiated according to subject priority and classification of degree as follows:

An announcement on the detail of the bursaries available for 2012/2013 is currently awaited. The Government has signalled that it is likely that payment of the bursary will be phased over the duration of the course to incentivise completion (e.g. by paying part of the larger bursaries as a course completion bonus).

Tuition Fees

For 2012/2013, providers are now able to charge a tuition fee of up to £9,000. The Government has recently announced that it is withdrawing mainstream funding to providers, and that providers should raise their income from tuition fees alone.The BPDE SCITT Management Group has therefore very reluctantly agreed that it will charge a fee of £9,000 (subject to OFFA agreement).  In line with OFFA access agreements, fee waivers and/or bursaries will be available for those on lower incomes.

Trainees are required to make an additional upfront administrative payment of £85 to cover CRB & other necessary checks. If a trainee already has a student loan, fees are simply added onto the loan and are repaid when earnings reach certain levels.
