Entry Requirements

Academic

Degree – Applicants need to hold an honours degree of a UK University or HEI (or acceptable recognised equivalent), at 2.II or above, in an appropriate subject at the start of the course. Normally a degree is regarded as appropriate if at least 50% of the content is in the subject they wish to teach. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it if you have a query. If your degree does not meet this specification, a Subject Knowledge Enhancement course may be a suitable route for you.

English and Mathematics – all applicants to ITT courses must have the equivalent of Grade C in GCSE English and Mathematics (or an acceptable recognised equivalent) before they start the course. Please note that the Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset East SCITT does not recognise Level 2 certiifcates in Adult Literacy or Numeracy as an acceptable equivalent. We do not make conditional offers based on passing English or Maths GCSE. Note also that all ITT trainees must pass the TDA Skills Tests in literacy and numeracy before they can qualify as teachers.

Overseas applicants who hold qualifications equivalent to those above are welcome to apply. Contact UK National Recognition Information Centre (Naric) to check your qualifications. However, please note that the Points Based System for Immigration (PBS) was introduced by the UK Government in 2009. Students who require a visa in order to study in the UK are only able to attend institutions holding a Sponsor Licence. Please note that the Bournemouth Poole & Dorset East SCITT holds a Tier 4 Sponsor Licence but is restricted by the UKBA to a maximum of 2 students per year.
