Train to teach in school with the BOURNEMOUTH POOLE & DORSET EAST SECONDARY SCITT.

We are a partnership of secondary schools working with the Local Authorities and the University of Bath.

We offer a one-year full-time course (September - July) which leads to QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a PGCE (Post-graduate or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) validated by the University of Bath. Subjects offered are: Mathematics; Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Biology); Design & Technology (Resistant Materials, Texiles Technology, Food Technology, Electronic & Communications Technology); Modern Foreign Languages (French, Spanish or German)

We also offer training in English, History, Geography, Computer Science, along with Physics, Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics through the School Direct link with our Lead Partner School, Twynham School. All applications for School Direct places must be made through the School Direct application system.

A distinctive feature of the BP&DE SCITT course is the focus on carefully staged and appropriately supervised practical classroom experience within two secondary schools, which is further supported by academic and professional study via central training at the Bournemouth Learning Centre.

We have an excellent track record of success. Our trainee pass rate over the last 4 years is 99%, and a 93% employment rate, with the majority of our newly qualified teachers gaining teaching posts in local schools.

The most recent OFSTED inspection in March 2012 judged the provision to be good across the board, with recruitment and selection leading to high quality outcomes judged as outstanding.
